Harry Cobden turned 19 this month and Colin Tizzard came up with the ultimate present – Cue Card in Saturday's Betfair Chase at Haydock.

Cue Card did not come gift-wrapped. There is not much wrapping – or rapping for that matter – at Venn Farm, and never in cotton wool. Tizzard likes his top horses hard-fit because they are always running in no-hiding-place races and nothing less than ten per cent will do.

For Cobden this is a huge day partnering a household name in a Grade 1 and, as Tizzard said when announcing Cobden would replace Paddy Brennan: "He will come under scrutiny – there's no doubt about that."
