Evening with Stan Mellor raises £500 for Injured Jockeys Fund

Former champion jump jockey Stan Mellor has raised £500 for the Injured Jockeys Fund after hosting an evening when he recalled the finest moments of his career, which includes claiming the scalp of Arkle on Stalbridge Colonist in the 1966 Hennessy Gold Cup.
Mellor, whose titles came in a three-year period at the start of the 1960s, also won the King George VI Chase twice and landed the Champion Chase during a stellar spell, which he recounted at Hungerford Tennis Club recently.
The club, where Mellor's grandchildren Sebastian and Ben play, was also a beneficiary of the evening, which was attended by Peter Cundell, whose father Ken trained Stalbridge Colonist.
