The air might be full of talk of Aintree and the Irish Grand National and who will or won’t be running at Punchestown in April, but make no mistake, the Flat season is ready to burst into life.

Naas kicks off proceedings today and at the County Kildare venue’s launch even at Palmerstown House Estate on Tuesday, Dessie Scahill played the role of master of ceremonies to perfection.

Alongside legendary figures such as Jim Bolger and Mick Kinane, Scahill looked back at some of the moments that have lit up the Flat down the years, but in this space let’s look forward to some of the major talking points for the season ahead.
