The first success in the career of any young rider starting out in the point-to-point sphere is always a momentous milestone, and this season alone there has barely been a weekend without one such rider accomplishing the feat.

The current autumn campaign, which comes to a close this Sunday with two mammoth cards at Borris House and Boulta, has already witnessed 14 riders recording their first victories.

To put this into context, in the 2018-19 campaign – the last full season to reach its natural conclusion without the Covid interruptions – the number of riders recording their first winners stood at 19 when the season ended in June 2019.
