According to an advert I saw recently human beings desperately need a gadget that enables them to adjust the thermostat in their houses while they’re on the way home from work.

I’m doggedly determined to stumble through life without such a tool but it got me thinking about what kind of technological advances would significantly enhance my existence.

Rather sadly, perhaps, the one that came to mind was an external hard drive for my mind, on which I could securely store sporting memories and data.
