Andrew Thornton’s career has stood the test of time and the 43-year-old jump jockey is just four winners away from the notable milestone of 1,000 winners.

He started out as an amateur with prolific trainer Arthur Stephenson and went on to forge enduring working relationships with Tim Forster, Robert Alner and Seamus Mullins.

His association with Robert and Sally Alner was one of jump racing’s most endearing partnerships and brought great success, including Cheltenham Gold Cup glory aboard Cool Dawn in 1998.
