Commingling of bets from overseas partners has helped boost horseracing betting turnover according to the Hong Kong Jockey Club's annual report which was published last week.

Both racing and football turnover set new records in the financial year to June 30, at HK$122.8 billion (approx £12.1bn, up by six per cent) and HK$103.1bn (up by 11.2 per cent), respectively. Overall turnover was HK$234bn, up 8.1 per cent.

The total amount wagered with commingling partners in the 2017-18 season reached HK$16.6bn, an increase of 154.8 per cent on the previous season, representing 13.3 per cent of total racing turnover for the 2017-18 campaign. In comparison, turnover on domestic racing in Hong Kong fell by 3.1 per cent.
