As expected, Douvan was one of the star performers at the Leopardstown Christmas festival and, of the 28 races run over the four days, his display in the Paddy Power Cashcard Chase on Tuesday stood alone.

Race times do not tell the whole story when assessing an event and can occasionally be misleading, but the time Douvan clocked in the 2m1f Grade 1 contest produced the only race run under standard time at the whole meeting.

He recorded 4m2.1s when winning by eight lengths and his figure was 3.9 seconds below standard.
