As one of those who believed early in the season that Circus Maximus was more of a middle-distance horse than a miler, his performances over the past few months have been educational to say the least.

In other words he has proved himself up there with the best of them over the trip, displaying far more pace than his early racecourse efforts suggested he was capable of.

Trained as a potential Derby horse like so many of his stablemates early in the year, he is not the first Ballydoyle three-year-old to have benefitted from being dropped in distance.
