Calm after the storm but one Flat runner has been working particularly well
We were fairly quiet last week but thankfully we got through the storm on Friday, which made things a little more difficult in the yard. First lot was pretty normal, second lot had a quick canter but we had to keep third and fourth in the school as the wind started to get very strong then. Everything was ridden, but from 11am to 2pm it was quite scary really. Fortunately we’d got the exercise out of the way.
We’ll only be at Kempton on Saturday and the first runner will be Big Boy Bobby in the Adonis. He’s been second in both his races over hurdles and this would be a huge step up in class for him but we want to get a third run into him to qualify for the Boodles. The better ground, the better he would run and he’s schooled well.
In the Coral Trophy we may run Potterman. He’ll need the ground to dry up but he’s had a wind operation since his last run and I am working back from the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown at the end of the season. This might be a good opportunity to get a run into him, but we’ll only go if the ground is reasonable.
