Breeder Sheehy sees two of his broodmare's stock win at Kirkistown

Kirkistown hosted an unusual occurrence on Saturday when owner-breeder Maurice Sheehy was responsible for the winners of both the four-year-old and five-year-old maiden races from his broodmare Carrig Millie.

The Milan mare, a half-sister to the top-class ex-pointer and 2003 Hennessy Gold Cup victor Strong Flow, was a decent racemare for Sheehy and trainer Michael Cullen.

She finished second in a bumper behind Don Cossack before going on to win three races, including the Grade B Pat Taaffe Chase under Katie Walsh in 2013, all before her retirement to the breeding paddocks in 2014.
