Black Type, the online bookmaker launched with the promise winning punters would not be closed down, celebrate a year of trading this week with plans to take the next step in their development.

The company, the creation of founders Dave Gowers and Craig Nicholson in conjunction with Mylo Sangster – grandson of Robert Sangster – started out as a horseracing-focused brand but are looking to shake off that tag.

They were launched with help from platform provider FSB Technology but are in the process of taking out a Gambling Commission licence while Keith Oliver, whose many roles within the industry have included managing director group operations for Totesport, is to become chief executive.
