Bargain Fumet D'Oudairies could be the one to give Andrews a new riding record
Gina Andrews equalled Polly Gundry's women's record score of 303 British point-to-point winners when riding a double at Chaddesley Corbett in Worcestershire on Tuesday.
Andrews moved her overall tally alongside Gundry's when riding Dubai Quest to victory in the ladies' open race. Dubai Quest became the 150th winner trained by Andrews' husband Tom Ellis, who is now eyeing a Cheltenham Festival Hunters' Chase challenge with the eight-year-old. His winning sequence of six includes a Fakenham hunter chase.
Ellis is expected to run seven horses at Horseheath in Cambridgeshire on Friday, where the horse who seems most likely to provide Andrews with the new record is Fumet D'Oudairies, an £800 purchase who has become a star for the yard. His six wins include a Cheltenham hunter chase, but this will be Andrews' first ride on him in public. Her brother Jack had first call until becoming a conditional jockey earlier this month.
