We awoke to sunshine. The apartments had a shared kitchen which was clean and reasonably well kitted out. Over a cup of tea, the three of us discussed how the betting market was shaping up.

Richard Hannon’s Enchanted Linda was well-supported and looked likely to start favourite, but after some initial money Phoenix Star was on the slide. Free Love was completely friendless and 25-1 was easy to get.
