For many among us, in the event of a major trauma involving high speed, collision with a hard surface and broken bones, the furthest thing from our minds would be going to work the following day.

Certainly, with an ear hanging off, teeth flying everywhere and nurses muttering under their breath about skulls and spines, we’d be more concerned with the medical prognosis than with how to negotiate the morning commute.

It says a lot about Connor Beasley, then, that when he suffered devastating injuries in a fall at Wolverhampton last year that eventually kept him off the track for eight months, he may not have known what planet he was on, but he knew where his professional loyalties lay.
