Craiglands Farm, which stands nearly 1,000 feet up on the edge of Baildon Moor near Bingley, is as near to heaven as anywhere in this part of West Yorkshire.

It has some wonderful views – on a clear day you can see more than 50 miles – but it's a bleak place, although not as remote as it sounds. A road bustling with traffic winds its way between the stone walls and passes a hundred yards from the front door.
