Alcohol Free sets figure to challenge any July Cup winner since 2003

Alcohol Free bounced back to top form to land the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on Saturday, last year's leading three-year-old filly at a mile vindicating connections' decision to drop her back to sprinting with a career-best Racing Post Rating of 123.

A below-par ninth in the Platinum Jubilee when finishing behind four who reopposed at the weekend, including the Royal Ascot 1-2-3, this return to form compares favourably with recent July Cup winners. Indeed, with the sex allowance factored in it suggests she'd have taken the beating in any July Cup since Oasis Dream reversed Ascot form with Choisir in 2003.

With her two best previous figures having been achieved on soft and heavy ground, autumn conditions would hold no fears and she's very much the domestic standard setter for races like the Haydock Sprint Cup and Champions Sprint.
