He stamped himself as the best goalkeeper in the world. He was a commanding figure and a huge part of all the success United enjoyed under Sir Alex Ferguson. He was a great shot-stopper who kept clean sheets in so many games. It must have been a great comfort to the back four playing in front of him to have such an outstanding and reliable keeper behind them.
Roy Keane
He was such an influential player in midfield and contributed in a big way to the success of the teams he played in. He was a true leader of men and a great captain. His role in teams with so many young players was hugely significant. He was physical and skilful and was very effective both defensively and in attack.
Paul Scholes
A stand-out player in his midfield role both for United and England. He was a very skilful player, a great passer of the ball and a good tackler who also weighed in with lots of goals, many of them crucial scores in big games. Of the young players who came through and made the grade with United, he was one of the best.
