I was reading the other day that Mars Bars are now 28 per cent smaller than they were in the 1990s. It’s amazing the things you discover when you work from home.

Not only that, but apparently the reason for this hideous shrinkage is that the manufacturers are concerned about the rise of morbid obesity among the chocolate-eating population. It’s nice to know they’re looking out for us.

Likewise, the people at Richmond, whose recent TV advert promises that a quantum leap has been made in the arena of sausages, namely, the oven-ready sausage – an invention so cunning that it will allow us to spend far more time with our families.
