Fahey eyeing Warwick assignment next for Albert Bartlett hope

Peregrine Run, brave winner at Cheltenham's Open meeting last Friday, will be sent back across the Irish Sea for Warwick's Grade 2 Leamington Novices' Hurdle in January as Peter Fahey eyes more British prize-money for his Albert Bartlett hope.

Peregrine Run made it four wins in a row in the Neptune Novices' Hurdle, but Fahey plans to step him up in trip to three miles at the festival after his Warwick assignment.

The Monasterevin trainer, who will now give the son of King's Theatre a short winter break, said: "We'll be aiming him at Warwick in January now as there is a nice Grade 2 Novice Hurdle there. Willie Mullins won it last year with Thomas Hobson and it looks like it could provide a good stepping stone to Cheltenham, where we are looking at running him in the Albert Bartlett.

"The win at Cheltenham wasn’t that much of a surprise as we always thought a lot of him. He was developing earlier in his career but really turned a corner recently and he just seems to be progressing from each run.

"I know it looked like his jumping wasn’t as good as he could be but Roger [Loughran] said that he didn’t lose any momentum. He’s rapid over his hurdles and I think that is his main strength."
