Derby 'always going to be attractive' for sponsors despite Investec exit

Blue-chip events such as the Derby will still be attractive to sponsors despite the impact of Covid-19 and its effect on the economy.

That was the view of two experts in the world of sports rights who were speaking in the aftermath of the news, revealed by the Racing Post on Thursday evening, that Epsom is looking for a new sponsor for the Derby after parting company with Investec after more than ten years.

British racing is already being hit by the shockwaves caused by the pandemic in areas such as prize-money, and the news that the sport's most famous Flat race now needs a new sponsor in such circumstances might be seen as another blow.
