Enter our competition by designing a Christmas jumper for a worthy cause
The Racing Post's charity Christmas jumpers campaign was launched on Friday with a new twist offering fans of the sport the opportunity to design their own festive knitwear to join our cracking collection.
Sam Twiston-Davies came up with the concept for the first of four #Jumpers4Racing designs, featuring the famous colours of the Stewart family, but there is a slot going spare and the competition is on to find the snazziest sketch from the racing public.
For the second year running, the Racing Post campaign is supporting Racing Welfare, with all proceeds from the sale of the four designs going directly to the charity and the Racing Post donating a further £1 for every competition entry received.
Bruce Millington, editor of the Racing Post, said: "We wanted to give all racing fans the opportunity to design their very own Racing Post charity Christmas jumper this year and are hopeful that in so doing, the campaign will drive more interest than ever before.
"We're not necessarily looking for the best artistic skills, but rather a great festive racing idea that will make a popular jumper design to join our line-up going on sale later this year. So don't worry, you definitely don't have to be a budding Picasso to give it a go!
"For the second year running we're delighted to be teaming up with Racing Welfare, a great cause that gives support to so many different people in the world of racing. We hope that by donating the proceeds from our jumpers sale plus £1 for every entry received, we can raise a handsome sum."
Racing Welfare chief executive Dawn Goodfellow said: “At Racing Welfare we believe that no-one retired from the racing industry should have to face social isolation and loneliness during the festive season.
"Funds raised through this campaign will help support a range of services for our stud and stable staff past and present, including the Christmas dinners that are run for more than 250 retired racing staff around the country.
"I'm thrilled that Racing Welfare is part of the Racing Post Christmas jumpers campaign for a second year. We're especially grateful to Sam Twiston-Davies for his venture into fashion design and hope that everyone jumps at the chance to enter the competition to design their own Christmas knitwear."
Entry templates can be downloaded at here and returned via email, post or by simply posting a screengrab or photo to @RacingPost on Twitter, using the hashtag #Jumpers4Racing.
The competition closing date is midnight on Sunday, October 22 and the winner will be announced later this month.
