David Elsworth has joined Mark Johnston in a call for a drastic reduction of betting content when ITV take over the terrestrial television coverage of racing from Channel 4 in 2017.

Johnston has been widely criticised this week after urging ITV to "get rid of all coverage of betting", but his views are finding favour with some.

Elsworth, who has spent a lifetime in racing, has never been averse to a bet himself and landed a famous coup with Raffia Set at Salisbury when he was first licenced in 1979.
