Punters might be able to improve their chances of getting off to a flyer in the Flat turf season, starting at Doncaster on Saturday, with these betting angles relating to trainers who are habitual fast-starters and sires who are more likely to produce lots of early winners.

Follow Fahey two-year-old newcomers prominent in the betting
Richard Fahey is the leading trainer in Britain/Ireland since 2012 in terms of sending out the most two-year-olds to win at the first time of asking before June.

Fahey’s 44 debutant winners – 12 more than next-best Mark Johnston – highlight how his newcomers often overcome a lack of experience, and the betting has usually been a strong pointer with the yard’s unraced two-year-olds.
