The body tasked with ensuring the integrity of starting prices has issued a robust defence of the system and cast doubts over the acceptability of industry SPs.

However, the Starting Price Regulatory Commission's (SPRC) annual report for 2018 has voiced concern about bookmaker attendance at some meetings.

It also revealed another episode involving on-course bookmakers at Ffos Las, who were criticised last year over the level of overrounds at the track.
