Veracious, the shortest priced British-trained runner in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas, will miss the race.

Sir Michael Stoute revealed on Monday that the filly, who was due to be partnered by Frankie Dettori, had suffered a training setback.

"Veracious is out of the 1,000 Guineas as she has had a training setback," a statement from the stable said.

Fourth favourite for the fillies' Classic, Veracious had been as low as 7-1 after she worked at Newmarket last week under Dettori during the Craven meeting and created a striking impression when completing a strong gallop on the Rowley Mile racecourse.

A daughter of Frankel, bred and owned by Cheveley Park Stud, Veracious entered Classic calculations after winning a Newmarket maiden last October by four lengths from Godolphin's Winter Lightning, who went on to win the UAE 1,000 Guineas.

She would have been attempting to land a second 1,000 Guineas for the owners and trainer, who teamed up 15 years ago with Russian Rhythm.
