Demand for jumpers hits record high in aid of Racing Welfare
The Racing Post's Christmas jumper campaign has raised a record-breaking £20,000 after the jumpers sold out yesterday.
Supporting the charity Racing Welfare, the campaign received the backing of a host of leading industry figures, including Sir Anthony McCoy, Richard Johnson and Nicky Henderson.
With more of the limited edition knits on sale than in previous years in the #Jumpers4Racing campaign, the amount of money raised represents a major increase on last year's £12,000 and Racing Post editor Bruce Millington thanked all those who have helped make it a success.
"This year’s jumpers have proved more popular than ever before and we’re delighted to have smashed our previous record of £12,000 by £8,000," he said.
"On behalf of everyone at the Racing Post, I’d like to say a massive thank-you to all that have shown their support by raising awareness and purchasing the jumpers this year. I’m sure that Racing Welfare will welcome every penny of the money raised and that it will go far in aiding their marvellous support for people in the industry."
David Goodfellow, chief executive of Racing Welfare, added: "We’ve loved being part of the campaign. It’s a really fun way of raising a very substantial amount of money that will help support the full range of people working in the racing industry."
