Definite chance return to shorter will revive Too Darn Hot's season

By Sunday it could all make sense. Too Darn Hot, last year's brilliant unbeaten juvenile, has not won in three starts this term and it could well be that he's been racing over the wrong distance.

A full brother to Lah Ti Dar – a filly who stays a mile and a half well – many of us felt that a mile and a quarter would at least be his optimum trip this term. However, recently he has not been seeing out his races, notably when third in the St James's Palace Stakes last time.

It's hard to believe last year's star two-year-old, who showed such blistering power in the final furlong of his races, would be so lacking in stamina at three, and the reasons for his recent lacklustre showings may not be quite as simple as that.
