Defi Du Seuil up to fourth in Tote Ten To Follow standings after Ascot romp
Defi Du Seuil has jumped to fourth place in the Tote Ten To Follow standings after completing his hat-trick in commanding style in the Clarence House Chase at Ascot on Saturday.
The seven-year-old's success in the hands of Barry Geraghty yielded his followers 28.5 points in the competition with the runner-up getting 1.1.
Philip Hobbs's seven-year-old now sits on 56.5 points in the competition and is closing in on third-placed Clan Des Obeaux (57.8), but still has plenty to do to match top scorer Potters Corner (77.4).
The second-placed De Rasher Counter (60.9) could leap to the top of the standings if he lands the Paddy Power Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham on Saturday.
Among the other major movers from Ascot was Magic Of Light, who gained 24.3 points from her front-running win in the Grade 2 mares' hurdle.
The Jessica Harrington-trained stayer is now in 11th place on 37.5 points.
Hitting the board for the first time was Thomas Darby, who reaped 24.8 points with his stirring triumph under Richard Johnson in the Grade 3 handicap hurdle.
Haydock winners Vintage Clouds (30.5) and Ballyandy (22.9) were the big scorers away from Ascot with the former now 16th in the standings on 32.1 points.
Yala Enki gained 13.3 points for his win in the feature Weatherbys Portman Cup at Taunton and may add to that in the Randox Health Grand National if Paul Nicholls gets his way.
In Ireland, Kilfenora racked up 21.7 points when winning the Grade B handicap hurdle at Navan, while a day later at Thurles, Elimay (22.5 points) propelled herself into ninth in the standings on 41.5 points after striking in the Grade 2 mares novice chase.
