Death of Australian socialite Renouf, mother of Jane Chapple-Hyam

LADY SUSAN RENOUF, the mother of trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam and ex-wife of late owner-breeder Robert Sangster, has died in Australia of ovarian cancer. She was 74.

Renouf was born Susan Rossiter in the beachside Melbourne suburb of Brighton, where her funeral will be held on Wednesday, and would spend three months of the summer in Newmarket each year.

"It's very hard to deal with, your mum is not only your mum, she's your best friend," said Chapple-Hyam yesterday. "She'd come over here for three months every summer and she'll be a loss to a lot of her Newmarket chums.
