Fitness first or one race prep?

Trainers take differing approaches on how to prepare a horse for its first day at the racecourse; some preferring to have them primed, while others leave more to work with for subsequent runs.

We have seen some wide-margin winners emerge from the first batch of juvenile races, notably Mighty Gurkha and Sands Of Time, who were both visually impressive at Lingfield.
