Saturday's bumper Ascot card, ably supported by some high-quality racing at Haydock and Wincanton, threw up a series of noteworthy performances, with pride of place going to the hugely impressive Ascot Chase winner Cyrname (181+).

In terms of Racing Post Ratings, this is the best figure recorded this season.

Last month's wide-margin handicap win over course and distance had represented a huge step forward, but any suggestion he was somehow flattered by that performance proved wide of the mark as he put a high-class field to the sword.
