The green light has been given for reconstruction work to be carried out on the Curragh parade ring in order for the centrepiece of the track's revamp to safely cater for the required number of 30 horses in time for next season.

In revealing the news following a Curragh board meeting on Monday, Derek McGrath, chief executive of the company that manages the Curragh racecourse and training grounds, said the work would be finished in time for the track’s grand opening on April 13.

McGrath said: “The indications are that we’ll be enlarging the parade ring in time for racing next year.”
