Crystal Ocean sets sail for a productive summer after impressive show
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute
Pat Dobbs put in a rare appearance to ride work for Stoute on the Limekilns but it was Ryan Moore who drew most attention when putting this recent Gordon Richards Stakes winner through his paces on the round gallop. The four-year-old was pretty straight for his Sandown reappearance but is a honed athlete now and could stick at 1m2f for the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh in a couple of weeks.
David Lanigan
With little rain in the region for over a week, the watered gallop on Racecourse Side was open for the first time this year, where messrs Lanigan, Cumani and Palmer were among those to pay to use the premier facility. Pat Cosgrave was seen to good effect on this useful four-year-old, who is from the family of Ulysses and may bag some black type this year.
Crossed Baton/John Gosden
Gosden's duo were paired up for an easy exercise on the Al Bahathri at second lot, where Epsom Derby trial winner Crossed Baton (Frankie Dettori) had his white face to the fore from Sandown trial winner Sevenna Star (Robert Havlin) over seven furlongs. Gosden has won the Dante three times, most notably with subsequent Derby winners Benny The Dip (1997) and Golden Horn (2015), and that is where Crossed Baton is heading.
