Crowds still down but Glorious Goodwood helps British attendances rebound

Attendances at British racecourses in July dropped by only a small margin versus pre-pandemic levels in a positive shift against a trend of dwindling crowd figures this year.

An average crowd of 5,201 in July was 0.9 per cent less than 2019's figure of 5,253, and a 2.5 per cent increase on 2018.

The figures compare well with the previous two months. Average crowds fell by 29.4 per cent in May and 19.7 per cent in June compared to 2019.
