Crisp leaps to top of the table thanks to Andy Dufresne's Punchestown win
Nicholas Crisp No.1 has moved into a narrow lead in the overall standings in the Tote Ten To Follow competition thanks to Andy Dufresne's win, worth 22.5 points, at Punchestown on Sunday.
His stable's total of 291.2pts lifted him from sixth to give him a 3.3pt lead after a week in which there were just eight winners in the 500-strong competition list.
The January leaderboard, for the £10,000 monthly prize, is also extremely tight with less than 30 points separating the top nine.
Andy Dufresne was a fourth winner in the month for IanG Stable01 The Underdogs, taking him into the monthly lead on 92.3pts.
Only three of the week's eight winners registered more than 20pts for their followers with Two For Gold top of the trio with 25.4pts for his win in the Hampton Novices' Chase at Warwick which took his overall total in the competition to 35.4pts.
After last month's flurry of bonus races, which carry an extra 25pts for the winner and 12pts for the runner-up, January is set to be a lower-scoring affair as the next bonus race is not until the Irish Champion Hurdle on February 1.
Frodon's Grade 2 win in the Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton earned his followers 23.1pts and the other five winners were Burrows Edge (19.9), Carefully Selected (17.5), Dragon D’Estruval (14.8), Annamix (14.5) and Annie Mc (12.1).
With so little between the top placings, the place points from Keeper Hill (4.7), City Island (1.7) and Sammy Bill (1.2) could have a bearing on the overall winner at the finish on April 25.
