The pool betting operation being set up by Britain's racecourses as a rival to the Tote has chosen i-neda to provide its technology platform.

The Farnborough-based company, whose majority shareholder is billionaire businessman Dermot Desmond, has done business in the UK, USA, Europe and Asia and worked with the Tote, before its sale to Betfred, on co-mingling through its OpenTote system.

Since 2009 i-neda has provided Tote Ireland with its online wagering solution for desktop, tablet and mobile users along with account management, call centre and payment management systems.

Nigel Roddis, recently named managing director for the racecourse pool betting project, said: "After an extensive tender process we are delighted to have appointed i-neda.

"The company has the experience and innovative approach that will help ensure we develop a technology infrastructure that will provide a first-class customer betting experience.

"We are aiming for this to enhance the appeal and experience of betting on racing for existing and new fans of the sport. We look forward to providing further details about our plans in due course."

The racecourse project, whose brand name has yet to be announced, has signed up 54 of Britain's courses including those under the Jockey Club and Arena Racing Company banners as well as major independents Goodwood, Newbury and York.

I-neda chief executive Martin Pickering said: "We are pleased to be have been selected as the technology provider for this exciting project.

"Our development team and support staff, based in Farnborough, have a proven track record of delivering successful, innovative wagering solutions and we look forward to playing our part in this landmark project for British racing."
