Lambourn locals keeping positive despite 'surreal' coronavirus situation

The mood in Lambourn has been described as "very odd" by trainers, as members of the racing workforce continue to care for the hundreds of racehorses living in the village during the coronavirus crisis.

Like the rest of Britain, Lambourn is closing in on a month since lockdown was enforced. While the morning gallops routine continues, a once-thriving social scene has disappeared to leave a strangely quiet air.

Jumps trainer Harry Whittington enjoyed the best week of his career at last month's Cheltenham Festival, with a first, second and third across the four days. But since then the situation at home and within the sport has changed dramatically.
