ITV seeks government aid for freelancers as broadcasters call on furlough scheme

ITV is urging the government to support those who work in the media in a freelance capacity as racing's mainstream television partner and Racecourse Media Group confirmed they are among the many organisations seeking to protect jobs through the British government's furlough scheme.

Under half of ITV Racing's employees are understood to have been furloughed at a time when the broadcaster has been left without any action to televise.

An ITV spokesperson said: "No pay cuts or redundancies have been made to ITV staff but ITV has imposed recruitment and pay freezes.
