Even in these lonely Covid-19 days of self-isolation, there's too much choice

David Jennings talks us through his Wednesday in self-isolation

No way. That old guy from the house they knocked down was her stepfather. Did you cop it? I certainly didn't, and never do. Sure it took me a second look at the Sixth Sense to realise Bruce Willis was a ghost. How could you see that coming? Nor did I have a clue who the Caddy was in Line Of Duty and, as for The Messiah, he couldn’t possibly be, could he?

Yes, we have just familiarised ourselves with The Stranger. Another Netflix series completed. Now the tedious process of trying to pick another one begins again. You know the drill by now. 'Did you hear anything about Mindhunter?' 'Will we just give Breaking Bad another chance? Maybe the third episode will be better than the first two.' 'Ozark looks okay.' 'Jason Bateman was good in The Switch so maybe Arrested Development is worth a go.' Then, after all that, we just pop on an episode of Gavin and Stacey. One we have watched at least a dozen times already.

There is too far much choice these days. Even in these lonely Covid-19 chapters of self-isolation, there are options everywhere – on the television, in the fridge, on the bookshelf and do not even get me started on our freezer. It is still a mystery how I spent €237 in Lidl the other day. There are only two of us. Like, when are you ever going to eat a frozen Firenze apple strudel?
