Comer Group International has entered into a three-year deal to provide insurance for all members of the Irish Jockeys Association whose careers have been cut short by injury.

The insurance scheme, which has been in place for four years, was previously sponsored by the Stobart Group.

The scheme guarantees that all IJA members will be fully insured should they suffer a career-ending injury and offers them and their families greater financial security for their retirement than in the past.

Andrew Coonan, secretary of the IJA, said: "The importance of this insurance scheme cannot be emphasised enough, Over the past three years in which we have had this cover, we have seen a number of riders whose careers have been cut short by injury.

"Without the invaluable support of Comer Group International, it might not have been possible to continue with the scheme and we are delighted that such an internationally successful company has agreed to link up with our jockeys, we thank Luke and Brian Comer for their generous support."

Jockeys competing at Galway this week have had the Comer Group logo on their riding breeches and will continue to do so at any future meetings.
