Colin Keane 1-12 to retain title but insists he is 'even hungrier than before'
Odds of 1-12 about Colin Keane retaining his Irish Flat jockeys' title may suggest this season's championship is a forgone conclusion, but the rider insists he is hungrier than ever after last year's record-breaking campaign.
A closing tally of 141 put Keane's name in the history books as he eclipsed Joseph O'Brien's record of 126 for most winners in an Irish Flat campaign. By August, the 27-year-old had also posted the fastest ever century of winners.
Keane's quest to be crowned champion jockey for the fourth time in six years begins at the Curragh on Saturday when the Irish Flat season gets under way, and the multiple Classic-winning rider is raring to go.
