Classic-winning rider out for more Curragh glory
Shane Foley will be hoping for further glory at the Curragh this morning when the Classic-winning jockey bids to retain his status as the fastest man in the weigh room.
The Kilkenny native, who enjoyed his finest hour at the track when winning this year’s Irish 1,000 Guineas on Jet Setting, is among a delegation of racing people lined up to participate in one of the 5k or 10k events held annually in aid of the Irish Injured Jockeys Fund.
A year ago Foley was the first jockey to cross the line in the 10k race, and he will face the starter again today before racing gets under way. The racing community has really got behind the event in recent years, with former jump jockey Ken Whelan set to reprise his always entertaining role as MC.
