The combination of some long-awaited warm weather and the Craven meeting has made for the first signs of what is to come this summer. Here's what we learned from the Newmarket action with the season in mind and three horses to follow selected by our experts.

1. Godolphin look better equipped to take the fight to Ballydoyle

Last year Aidan O'Brien won eight of the ten Classics in Britain and Ireland while Godolphin only had two horses so much as hit the frame, with Barney Roy and Thunder Snow second in the English and Irish 2,000 Guineas, and no runner in the royal blue went off shorter than the 7-2 Barney Roy returned that day.
