The King George VI Chase winner could have claimed bragging rights to the entire season. Cyrname versus Lostintranslation, a clash where both had the form and the profile, and one just had to beat the other to take the crown.

But things didn't work out that way.

We didn't see two stars at their peak. Instead we saw two horses who were already feeling the effects of the season. Like heavyweight boxers after going 12 rounds with the champ, their defining wins over Altior and Bristol De Mai had taken a toll.
