Cheltenham tips: Saturday's ITV Racing tips for the November meeting

ITV will broadcast five live races from Cheltenham on Saturday, as well as two Listed races from Lingfield.

Cheltenham's three-day November meeting is one of the jumps season's outstanding autumn weekends, with plenty of top-class action and no shortage of clues for the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Race 1 – 2.15 Cheltenham

Rock-solid contender Simply The Betts (nap) is taken to continue his excellent progress.

Race 2 – 2.30 Lingfield

While several should improve and there are some good pedigrees on show, the racecourse evidence suggests that this is between Folk Magic and Parachute, with the former narrowly preferred following his good finish on the AW at Wolverhampton.

Race 3 – 2.35 Punchestown

Takarengo ran a huge race in the Cesarewitch last month and showed enough in some of his hurdles starts last year to be of interest now.

Race 4 – 2.50 Cheltenham

The one strikingly progressive runner is Tea Clipper, who has not been tried under rules beyond an extended 2m3f but will probably stay.

Race 5 – 3.25 Cheltenham

Winning a 19-runner race here in clearcut style last month on his handicap debut was no mean feat for Captain Tom Cat. It was only his fourth start overall under rules and there must be further improvement in him, so he looks the one to beat.

Race 6 – 3.40 Lingfield

The highly progressive Good Effort keeps finding more and is taken to maintain his unbeaten record on this track.

Race 7 – 3.55 Cheltenham

In a good-quality renewal, preference is for Ucanaver, whose blistering display of front-running at Fontwell made a deep impression.
