Mitbaahy, who had led the market at various stages on Friday morning, has now been firmly displaced at the head of the betting for the King George Qatar Stakes by his Sandown conqueror Raasel.

There was only a neck between the pair in the Group 3 Coral Charge at the start of the month but Raasel - described as "definitely the best I've trained" by Mick Appleby - is now the clear 3-1 favourite with Sky Bet with Mitbaahy out to 4-1.

Raasel began his five-timer last season with a win over course and distance and tackles Group 2 company for the first time with punters siding with the progressive five-year-old.

However, the most popular horse with punters according to Star Sports has been Rebel's Romance in the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate Glorious Stakes (4.10) for William Buick and Charlie Appleby.

A Star Sports spokesman said: "Rebel's Romance is probably the strongest thing we've seen at Goodwood. It's been backed from 5-4 into 4-5, the biggest bet being £20,000 at 5-4."

Ken Condon filly 5-1 (from 33) to get off the mark at Galway in sustained gamble

Ken Condon: 'We're just custodians of a yard that will hopefully continue on in the future. It's a privilege to be here and we're very pleased with how things have started for us.'

Accomplished has been the subject of a large gamble in the Guinness Irish EBF Fillies' Maiden (7.10) for Classic-winning trainer Ken Condon.

The three-year-old daughter of Mastercraftsman is 11-2 (from 33) with Bet Victor to make it third time lucky despite having been beaten by an accumulative 20 lengths in her first two starts.

The filly, who is as short as 5-1 with William Hill, beat just two rivals home on her debut at Leopardstown last October but outran odds of 100-1 when last seen, finishing fourth at Navan in April.

Although a couple of subsequent winners have come out of that race, it is difficult to get too enthusiastic over the strength of that form. Therefore the sustained support for Condon's filly on Friday morning is fascinating.

Condon has excelled with his three-year-old turf runners this season with an 18 per cent strike-rate, double that of his next most successful performing horses with four-year-old turf runners.

It will be interesting if Accomplished can hit the frame to add to the County Kildare-based trainer's seven wins and 11 placed efforts from his three-year-olds this term.

Cheltenham runner-up Busselton backed to make a winning jumps return at Galway

Busselton, who finished a fortuitous second in the Turners Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last season, has been well backed for Friday's Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase (6.00).

The Joseph O'Brien-trained five-year-old is a clear 7-2 favourite for his second handicap start over fences, having been 5-1 with most firms overnight.

Busselton, who finished 40 lengths behind Bob Olinger in Grade 1 company at Cheltenham, demonstrated he was capable of taking a big handicap when chasing home El Barra at Punchestown in April.

Now only 2lb higher and freshened up by runs on the Flat last month, including success in a Roscommon maiden, punters are hoping that Busselton can get the job done from near the top of the weights.

There has also been support in the same race for last year's winner Born By The Sea (9-1 from 12-1 with William Hill) although Paul Gilligan's eight-year-old is winless in seven starts across both codes since and competes off a 6lb higher mark.

No change in going at Goodwood

There is no change in going from Thursday's action with the fourth day of the Glorious meeting set to be run on good to firm, good in places.

Clerk of the course Ed Arkell said on Friday morning: "We remain good to firm, good in places, 7.7 on the going stick. We put five millimetres of irrigation down the straight last night and two millimetres on the bends just to keep them fresh. The forecast is for a dry, sunny and warm day."

The false rail, which had been in place on the top and bottom bends as well as the the straight to the two furlong marker for the first three days of the meeting, has all been fully removed as planned for Friday's seven-race card headlined by the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes (3.35).

For Galway's mixed card, the going on the jumps course is good after watering on Friday morning, with the Flat course good to yielding. The forecast is mainly dry although there is potential for some showers on Friday evening and onwards into the weekend.

Mullins favourite ruled out with a temperature

Willie Mullins and Colin Keane combined to take last year's Rockshore Irish Lager Race (8.10) with Micro Manage but will not partake in this year's contest after M C Muldoon was taken out with a temperature.

The smart dual-purpose performer has not been seen since finishing down the field in the Cesarewitch last October and will have to wait a while longer to make his seasonal reappearance. The seven-year-old had been a general 13-8 favourite at the time of his withdrawal.

With The Shunter, Azallya and Thousand Tears also non-runners, the Jessica Harrington-trained Sandhurst leads the market in the depleted four-runner field.

Mullins, who has already trained six winners this week at Galway, also took out Raving Royal of the Guinness Irish EBF Fillies' Maiden (7.10), with Keane again missing out on the ride as the filly is in season.
