Cheltenham, Bangor and Musselburgh top of the awards tree
Cheltenham, Bangor and Musselburgh all scooped awards at the 36th annual Horseracing Awards of the Racehorse Owners Association, with the trio named as the best in Britain for owners.
The winners were revealed on Thursday evening at the InterContinental Hotel in London, with Cheltenham claiming the ROA Gold Standard Large Racecourse of the Year award.
There was six finalists in the large and small racecourse categories, with each of the 12 tracks awarded the ROA's gold standard, which recognises excellence in the owners' raceday exeperience, earlier this year.
Significant investments have been made at Cheltenham to improve the owners' experience, along with more prize-money on offer.
Alan Pickering, Chairman of the ROA Raceday Committee, said: "Cheltenham has gone out of its way to make owners feel special, whatever the outcome of the race. Their attentiveness and co-operative spirit are veritable beacons."
Bangor and Musselburgh were joint recipients of the ROA Gold Standard Small Racecourse of the Year award.
Pickering added: "Their dead-heat epitomises the increase in standards virtually across the board amongst the smaller racecourses.
"Bangor's new owners' restaurant has proved to be one of the best-received improvements across all racecourses by the ROA membership.
“Musselburgh is one of the most consistently high-scoring racecourses according to the ROA members, and they demonstrate a fantastic can-do attitude throughout the levels of management."
As well recognising the best of British racecourses, there was also a series of equine awards, with Arc heroine Enable carrying off a trio of gongs.
John Gosden's superstar filly was crowned ROA Horse of the Year, and also claimed the Outstanding Filly/Mare and Outstanding Middle Distance Horse awards.
Big Orange's memorable Royal Ascot success helped him land the Outstanding Stayer award, while there was double joy for Godolphin as Ribchester won the miler division, and Harry Angel came home first in the sprint category.
