Sport can lead to participants feeling a terrible sense of injustice if something has not gone their way.

In most cases there is not the chance to rage against the perpetrators, but occasionally a helpful journalist will appear at just the right time with a microphone or a notepad to allow you to get a few things off your chest.

That was certainly what footballer, and racehorse owner, Charlie Austin did when he was interviewed following Southampton’s draw with Watford in the Premier League on Saturday. The striker had a goal wrongfully ruled out for offside and launched an impassioned plea for officials to be given access to video replays – known as VAR – to help make the correct decisions in the future.
