Chantry House faces just one rival on reappearance at Sandown on Sunday
Cheltenham Gold Cup prospect Chantry House is set to face just one rival in The Big Breakaway on his return in Sunday's Future Stars Intermediate Chase (2.10) at Sandown.
The 3m Listed race turned into a match after the pair were the only ones to be declared from six entries. It has failed to attract a bigger field than four in its last nine runnings, but there has not been a match during that time.
Chantry House, winner of last season's Marsh Chase and Mildmay Chase, is the shortest-priced British-trained contender in the ante-post Gold Cup betting at a general 14-1.
'I hope he reaches the top'
Trainer Nicky Henderson has started off his brightest second-season chasers in the Future Stars before, winning it three times in the last four seasons with Pym (2020), Santini (2019) and Might Bite (2017).
Speaking about Chantry House in a recent Racing Post stable tour, Henderson said: "It was a superb performance in the Marsh at the festival and we upped him to three miles for the Mildmay at Aintree and he excelled again. I think his future lies in the staying division, although he's got the speed for shorter, and I hope he reaches the top."

The Big Breakaway, who was pulled up in the Mildmay, was in the process of running a respectable race behind Bravemansgame at Newton Abbot last month before falling at the last. Fusil Raffles, subsequently a fortunate winner of the Charlie Hall, finished second to Bravemansgame that day.
Nico de Boinville will partner Chantry House with Brendan Powell on The Big Breakaway, who will wear first-time cheekpieces.
